SB 721 (Health and Safety Code 17973) covers apartment buildings with three or more units, with the first inspection deadline extended to January 1, 2026 by AB 2579 and repeat inspections every six years. SB 326 (Civil Code 5551) covers condominium and other common interest developments, with a first deadline of January 1, 2025 and repeat inspections every nine years. Engineers inspect a statistically valid sample, report hazards, and design repairs.
